Keep testing.. you'll find something

I just came from the liver doctor. Dr. Canan Avunduk. She is actually a gastroenterologist, right in Melrose. She has a head of crazy blonde curls and much too much dark eyeliner (she must be in her 50's I guess) and she has the face of a smoker (or ex-smoker, hopefully). Also, her own paintings are up all over her office.

How lucky that she's a world reknown gastro doc too - and likes to let everyone know
she's literally 'written the book" on the subject -- so she wants to do my endoscopy (it's been 2 years) and colonoscopy (I'm fifty!!) in addition to liver biopsy. She's concerned about my esophagus because I have a pre-cancerous condition known as Barrett's esophagus. She says I'm due for colonoscopy, and then we'll find out about liver too. The prep for colon is now pills. You take 4 pills every 15 minutes or something. Much better!

I'm very worried about the endoscopy though - more than the liver business. I could have cancer. She says it's not so rare anymore, but she knows that I'm a worrier (I told her), so she didn't want to say anything else to make me worry!!

Of course, you know me... since I've had this pre-cancerous condition for awhile, I just wonder what the chances are that she'll find anything tomorrow. I must have some sort of dysplasia, which means that the cells could change. There are actually treatments for Barrett's, but once you have cancer... that's almost a death sentence. That is not the way I want to go.

Plus I've got such a busy month ahead... I've volunteered to work in the WCUW office 3 days plus I have to go up for training, and I have three concerts, and doing a radio show on 5/24 as well.
