My Sciatica

Well - this online blog is very helpful when you don't have Office installed and your computer is not yet setup the way you want it. I have to reinstall Windows one of these days and see if I can get the application to work with a key, since the HP recovery disks will not work. But anyway,
I have not written here in a long time, except for the april 16 post. I have been fighting this herniated disk/sciatica problem for a year now and I'm not happy about the prospect of surgery but nothing else is working. I've had PT, acupuncture, and done lots of exercises (not every single day, unfortunately, but I just kind of gave up after awhile).

So, I'm also unemployed - and while it's only been 2.5 months, it seems longer. I need to get out and do something, but I don't know what. I don't want to spend money, I have lots of books and magazines to read, and a house to clean. I want desperately to empty my closet of all the stuff I don't wear or that is too small, but it is turning out to be a huge task and one that hurts my back if I don't keep sitting down on the bed or the floor. I have been trying to shard to rid the house of clutter but it's not working. I wanted to focus on one room a day but it takes longer than a day for most rooms! I am making progress, but it's hard to see.

So I'm a bit depressed today. Alan has a friend visiting from NY - his kind of wierd, paranoid friend Walter. He just called me - they are walking the Freedom Trail. yesterday they went tothe Saugus Ironworks. All the things I'd do with Alan if I could walk. What if god forbid I had MS or something - I'd probably kill myself.

I am seeing surgeon #1 Dr Rachlin tomorrow. Dr #2, Roth, seems to have dismissed me. He sent me a consultation report of my visit and it just stated all the facts, and what surgery I'd need, and how it might only help 80%, and said the plan was for me to consult Dr. Rachlin or get another injection. I didn't really understand it. Dr Roth is the doctor I had to "apply" to see first, and I guess he is quite in demand. He told me the surgery I needed but didn't say anything about actually doing it.

So I woke up late, and did a 15 minute yoga and 10 minute stretching program from On Demand. (i taped it also). I haven't even eaten anything yet. I should do that, and get dressed and maybe go out for a while, but I don't know.
