Oh boy, nothing planned for today! I got to sleep very late after reading in bed until almost 2:30 AM. So, of course I woke up at 6 AM.... went back to sleep until 9 AM. Decided to take out the stuff I'd accumulated yesterday - the old tape holders, plus the broken shredder. Dumped it all in the dumpster -- woohoo!!!!
Next order of business was to begin the process of reinstalling Windows from one of Izzy's XP disks - hopefully something would work. So, it went very smoothly, accepted the ID key, and installed my printer. I've activated this copy of Windows and now I'm running the Windows Updates. That was the biggest hurdle before. Hopefully after that I can get the sound drivers to work, and then try to install McAfee and AdAware as for some inane reason I'm getting a spyware pop up already.
So, I've installed XP Home and the updates, installed McAfee, Adobe Acrobat, AdAware, iTunes, Photoshop Elements, printer and scanner, MS Office, and The sound drivers... yeah! everything is good. Whew! Then I decided to install Mozilla Firefox for my browser and try Thunderbird for email. All was good until I realized that T-bird had downloaded all my email and not left it up on the Comcast server... grrrrr. I didn't really need it there, it was for backup anyway, but I may have left some there that I wanted that I'd deleted from Outlook, which I did back up. Well, if I was really good about it, I wouldn't have 4500 emails in my inbox to begin with!!!
