I had a 3 hour board meeting with the women from my synagogue tonight. I am an incoming recording secretary. Three hours with 20 women who talked nonstop over and under each other in an attempt to plan out their annual events. The food was good, but I kind of regret "volunteering" to serve. I'm not the kind of person who likes to plan events and serve on committees... but I'm gonna hafta whether I like it or not.
I spent today in Day One of a four day workshop to prepare for the High Holidays.. it is geared towards cantors, wanna-be cantors, and lay people who lead services. Most of the participants are younger than I am, and seem to have more experience with the traditional way of chanting prayers. I am not "schooled" in this and just sing my own tunes... but it's not the traditional "mode" of the holidays. However, this is really just a brief overview of a variety of topics.
I spent yesterday on the Cape - we went to the Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich - it was a nice day - the rain held off until we were leaving. Then we headed to a performance venue for a concert. In between those two events I managed to have a car accident and fall down and hurt my shoulder. I also seem to have hurt my neck too, and the ibuprofen I took hasn't worked. I hope it goes away on it's own.
But I'm so exhausted now I just want to give Alan a quick call and get into bed. I have to be up early in the AM.
