I Love the Internet

I love the internet. I always felt that Al Gore invented it just for me - LOL. It is the most amazing invention ever. this morning I filed for unemployment online and paid my Electric Bill. I also checked my bank statement to see what checks have come in, and marked all the transactions as "reconciled" as I checked them off in my register. Last week I ordered free business cards online.

Of course, there is also email, which allows me to stay in touch with friends who I haven't seen in ages... and I recently contacted an old babysitter via email - isn't that crazy??? And yahoo lists - where I've made some actual friends. I can get Zamir music from our website, and there is a roster of everyone's name and contact info. Josh emails us weekly with information about the upcoming rehearsals or concerts.

There have been countless times when I've wanted to share something I read in the Globe - so I just go to their site and email the article to anyone I want. Or save or print a copy.

When I needed to figure out how to handle my herniated disk and sciatica, where do you think I turned? The web --- there are some amazing sites out there: spineuniverse.com and spine-health.com -- they have message boards and articles written by doctors, and videos and all kinds of information. Of course, you have to be careful what you read and take some things with a grain of salt, but once you figure out which sites are legitimate and are not trying to sell you something, it's not so bad.

The only thing I hate about the internet is all these passwords!!! I have a spread sheet with all my passwords it has gotten so cumbersome. You just can't use the same password for every site. Some require at least 8 characters, some require only 4. Some require letters and numbers, some require also a special character or an upper case letter. Some require you to use your email address as your user ID. Thankfully, most sites make it easy to retrieve your user ID and password but that is a pain in the butt also. So, I use my spreadsheet, and I can usually remember the log-in info for the sites I use most frequently.
