New Job! 06/27/06

I have a new Job!
As a Help Desk Support Analyst at BioGen in Kendall Square. BUT - really I'm an employee of Siemen's -- the Help Desk is all Siemen's employees. Decent salary (a little bit less than Keane since I made a lot there), and benefits (which do count when you are looking at compensation package...)
I have all the skills they are looking for, so I figured I might as well take this.

I had to wait to hear back on the shift and my start date.. I was told that the 9-6 shift was open, but the manager had apparently been looking for 8-5. I said I'd prefer 9-6 (although I'd really like 9-5.... didn't people used to work those hours? ) Getting to work by 8 AM would really not work for me.

I will be starting July 5 - probably just basic orientation, because the next week I'll be in their training "boot camp". Then I'm on vacation July 16-21 which was already planned (Jewish Choral Festival) and they can all talk about me while I'm gone.

Kendall Square these days is a beautiful area - you can sit outside in many places, beautiful new buildings, places to eat. However, my building is a crappy little warehouse squeezed in near new construction - I think it will be coming down soon - they mentioned moving. BioGen has about six buildings in the area. I told Lisa first this morning - since she was "live" and online ... also called Alan - didn't get him at first but he called me back.. Tried to ask him if he'd like to get together - men do not think like women. Alice thought he'd want to take me out and celebrate - well he had no idea when he was going to go to his Mother's (when she "wanted" him) so he was all fahmished...is the best way to describe, I guess.I got really pissed off, actually - and then his call waiting beeped in and I said call me back.. Well an hour and about 22 phone calls later, he finally did. In the meantime, I had done laundry and taken a shower and tried to have breakfast but I was too mad - maybe frustrated is the better word.He later told me that he's going to his mother's tomorrow, but will be back Thursday and then "be available over the weekend'... and I'm a regular Love Boat social director, looking for things for us to do... that is a pattern.. I've done that with every guy I've ever dated.. They just cannot STEP UP.of course, Eric didn't like leaving the house at all...
