So, it's December 29 at Keane... the end is near...
Last week, Rob Smith accepted a job at Cardinal Health in Marlboro, and Mike Phipps announced that he is taking a job with ACS, in downtown boston to be some kind of business analyst. So the announcement has been made that they are both leaving.
Chris Shields (my manager, who I always thought was sleazy, but did a good job managing the Help Desk, I guess), is moving to Florida, to take some great job, so I doubt he'll send for me... ha ha. Although he's accepted it, he keeps getting more job offers and calls for interviews.
I have not decided what I want to do yet and I'm not worried but Rob and I were just discussing various scenarious that could happen here. And then Mike P. called each of us up for a little heart to heart. At mine, he told me that they are still deciding exactly how the new configuration will look, but they will want at least one IT coordinator to support the corporate office (they are a very needy technophobic bunch)... John is the best person for the job as he used to do it before the took away his position and made him work the HD.
However, I could do it too, as a backup for John --- we've discussed before that it is a lot for one person and we both have our strengths. So I told Mike that I'd be interested in such a position.
I am not as good technically as John - but I am good enough to do most things. and could get better. The problem is, once 2 guys leave, it will be very stressful on john and myself, and I don't know what they will do about having no manager. Since we ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW THIS YET, we couldn't talk about it w/ Mike P.
Anyway, I guess today Mike Proulx actually OFFERED Rob the position of IT Coordinator for Corporate, to get him to stay, but he turned it down. He thinks they are idiots. They had better make the same offer to John O, but as for me, I don't know... they may end up laying me off, which is ok with me. I just wish it would hurry up and happen already.
The PROS
Good commute, good benefits, nice people, (2 jewish top executives), I know the systems and the company.
The CONS
working evenings (that could change)
carrying a pager (that probably would not change)
