Well, since this is a combination blog of personal and work stuff, I guess I'll start with Eden's wedding. It went off perfectly -- oh except for the blizzard raging outside. Drove down to Avon in the snow - got to the hotel just before dark. Had to drive in the dark to the wedding, about 2 exits away down Rte 24 but I really had no idea where I was, and in the dark and oncoming snow thought I was lost - but I had just taken a wrong turn. Got to the wedding at about 6:30 and Eden still wasn't there. Called their house and Tony answered at 6:45 - uh, is eveytning ok??? Tony: No. Me, not quite hysterical yet - why??? Tony: We're running late. Oh. Ok. At least Eden didn't fall down the stairs or have cold feet or something. Then I really would have had to sing karaoke or something.
Anyway, it really was lovely. It was a function room with about 12 tables (I was at table 10 and next to us was 12, but I don't know what happened to number 11)...There was only a large parquet dance floor and a raised area with the tables, so the guests all crowded around the perimeter and we walked down towards the raised platform at the front where Eden had set up her makeshift chupa.
The only sad part really was that Judy didn't make it. She had planned to come but she said she just didn't feel well that day. So the one chair at our table was empty... I felt it was kind of symbolic. Anyway it was great to catch up with Eden's college roommate, Jennifer (Young) Niles, who now lives in Paxton and is married with a little boy. She does art for a living - murals and greeting cards and such. I let her stay in the room with me since she didn't want to drive home late, and I was paying for it anyway. Hey, I'm single and can afford things that others can't, so why not make their lives easier - that's how I see it anyway.
The next day I was going to meet Denise and David, but Denise felt sick so they left early. I drove around and finally found a place to have breakfast, then went shopping onRte 1 and came home. It was a nice weekend, marred only by a freak snow storm. It was nice as always to see Eden's brother Andy and Sister in law Jill. I joined them, and Eden and Tony for dinner Friday night before the wedding. That was nice too.
Ah well, Eden is married.. kind of strange. Mrs. Eden Mancini.
