Trip to Baseball Hall of Fame

I haven't written in a while... I'm just lazy. What's been happening? Not much, and everything. Let's work backwards, shall we?

It is now November, In one month, I will be travelling to Berlin with Zamir to sing in an international Louis Lewandowski music festival. Pretty cool, although just thinking about it exhausts me. I've been working - at the Concierge desk and the marketing office, and helping people with techincal stuff. Plus Hebrew Class and Zamir.

But all that will be covered at another time.

I just got back yesterday from Oneonta NY. Alan's friend Bill Simons lives there, and his son recently got married here in Swamptscott to a woman he has been with for years. They have 2 little girls. So the official wedding reception was in NY on Saturday night. We drove there on Friday. Alan's car developed a problem. Drooping muffler. We were towed from I90 out near Lee MA (exit 1) and thankfully it wasn't too long when we were on our way to Albany, where we'd planned to stop and visit Alan's cousin Sheila and her husband. They have a lovely townhouse, but are packing to move to Florida. We had a nice chat - she's very talkative and outgoing, he is quiet and much more elderly looking. We went to dinner at a cool looking diner. WE thought maybe Alan's friend would meet us for dinner later, but we were hungry. After that we set off for Oneonta, and got to the hotel at around 8 PM. Bill came and met us in the bar, which was a pretty sad affair. No snacks, loud music - although there was practically no one in there but some locals. We made it an early evening.

Saturday we had breakfast in the hotel and drove to Cooperstown and looked around, went into the Baseball hall of fame but didn't pay admission. We wanted to have enough time so we wanted to come back on Sunday. Instead we drove to a brewery, had a great lunch and a short tour. I bought beer of course. Oh and before we did that, we went to WalMart so Alan could buy black pants, which he'd left at home. Blue corduroys wouldn't cut it, but he got a good deal on pants that fit. So that was good. He had brought shirt, tie and shoes, but forgotten garment bag with jacket and pants!

Saturday night was the wedding reception. We watched a video of the actual ceremony, which we had attended two weeks earlier at Shirat Hayyam in Swampscott. I had filet mignon, which I hardly ever order out or get at weddings. We danced, sat with Bill and his girlfriend Nancy, and some of Bill's friends from SUNY Oneonta where he is a professor and Union president.

After checking out on Sunday we met Bill and Nancy for breakfast at The Neptune Diner, across the way near the hotel. After that we set off for Cooperstown once again. It is a nice drive, down a long winding country road past many dairies, cows, horses, antique stores, etc.
