A New Job!

New Job! Finally
No more late nights as I think I've got a job, as a "concierge" at Sunrise of Braintree, an assisted living facility.

When I emailed the Zamir membership about how I was looking for a job and reaching out to my network, Debbie West responded about how they could sure use me at the Assisted Living Community where she works as a nurse. She wasn't sure how, but said there were front desk opportunities (they call it 'concierge"), activities assistant and who knows what else. So I went in, met one person informally and filled out some applications. Deb kept telling them all kinds of great things about me...I'm amazed that someone (at least one person), thinks so highly of me!

So this past Monday I went in and met with the executive director, who was very nice. I wasn't nervous, as I felt that I already had a job there... we just had to work out the hours and pay etc. And of course she wanted to meet me, but by the end she said she was very excited to have me on board.

I got a TB test and they have already called Vanessa for a reference. (she said she gave me a "raving" one). I'm really supposed to give them a second one. If all goes well, training starts 2/9 in Braintree and 3 days the next week in Norwood at another facility. It is only 15 hours to start, and the hours are not that great, but I had no choice but to take them. Monday 3-8, and Friday and Saturday evenings from 4-8. Social life?? What social life? At $12 an hour. I might be able to work more hours, and possibly qualify for health insurance, which my friend Deb says is a cigna hmo and isn't very good anyway.

I am also enrolled in the Jewish Music Certificate program at Hebrew College. I am currently taking Hebrew, and am going to enroll in a Friday morning class called Vocal Performance. Each of these classes are @$900. The REAL credit classes are more like $2800 !!! And boy am I going to be busy. Alan is very understanding though, and we are taking a trip to Israel with the Kudans and temple folk in April, so that will be our "relaxation" ! ha.
Well, I'll be planning - alan probably won't think about it until 2 weeks before! but I have to fit in the gym somehow!
