So, I started my new job today.. ok - i haven't written in ages.. nothing much to write about, except that I had an interview with this company in Woburn, and I guess I did everything right because they hired me! I wish it was more money, but everything else seems so great that I don't want to stress about that.
They are in Unicorn Park in Woburn, so i don't even have to hit the highway - and the commute this morning was about 20 minutes! And I stopped for coffee. I just zip down Montvale Avenue and I'm there. Myself and another new guy I got the tour from an executive assistant named Kell (wearing jeans and clogs with flowers). I was shown to my cubicle, which is pretty nice. I even got LogmeIn swag - a tshirt, notepaper, cell phone sticky pad for car, and pen. I had accounts set up and everything - can you imagine!!
My supervisor, Amanda, makes me think of Vanessa. She ordered pizza for lunch, and I told her I'd take part in the Yankee swap. I was invited to the company holiday party, and the lunch with the CEO next week. I had web/voice conferenced training, and met with the HR person about benefits. I will be paying about $130 for health/dental. Very good. They have a 401k but do not match. I'm going to try to squirrel away whatever I can. I'm already spending over my take home, so what's a few more dollars - robbing the present to fund the future!
It is a nice place - there is a cafe and a fitness room in the lobby. It's somewhat quiet. I only saw a few guys and one woman, Randi, who trained us today. She had long braids and wore a knit cap. Very young/hip of course. I need to convey a bit more youth - at 49 I may be the oldest person there.
