These old posts are from LiveJournal entries.. they are long and I think they belong here. I want to round this out - this has been such a great diary of my work life at Biogen.
WOW- I haevn't posted since 9/1? Well, nothing much has happened... just work and uh, work... a little Alan, and Zamir started Tuesday night.
Work is the same - some days I hate it, some days it's tolerable. The days go by faster because we are busy and I am more able to handle the calls... it's amazing how quickly one can become acclimated. Speaking of climates, I was asked to move to another cube, further down another row, somewhat isolated from my other colleagues, and closer to the Desktop and Acct creation folks. However, they all warned me about how horribly cold it gets when the vents blow. And I could feel it within a few minutes.
And Vanessa just said that John had told her to move me there (everyone gets moved around here, it's like a Chess game).so I emailed John and said that I didn't want to be difficult (yes I do!) but I didn't understand why I'd been moved to a cube where everyone knew it was too cold to sit, and from where Renee had already moved. So now I'm going to be moving to Vanessas cube, which is way up front near the managers offices (one of those is going to become Vanessa's). I like where I am - I'm near Darius and Alex (who is leaving) and there's no one else here except Renee at the end, and she's moving to where I was sitting.
Friday night I went to my first Biogen Beer Night. I sat outside w/ some of the IT folks, all of whom I know but do not talk to much. I ended up talking to one of the deskside guys... a short wiry Italian guy w/ grey hair, not unattractive, probably in late 40's or early 50's. I can't judge anymore. He was friendly and we talked about my Mini and joked around. I didn't really talk to him again until today.I think that for young single women, Biogen must be a hotbed of romance - there are soooo many people here.. And I've seen many attractive men in the cafeteria.
Oh yes, I can go to lunch at 1 PM now, so I can go to the cafe. I also had wonderful cream of wheat w/ brown sugar for breakfast yesterday. The prices are very reasonable!
But --- yesterday, after we were chastised for 1) singing, and 2) using the "wrong" bathroom for our gender, I was really sick of this place. I stopped to buy beer and wine and then called Alan and invited him to come over. We just watched TV and I sent him home at 11. I keep trying to figure out why he isn't trying harder to find a job... it sounds like he is trying, and he complained about his cash flow problems... but he couldn't answer my questions and I was trying to be so nice... I suggested perhaps his skills could use some updating, and maybe he'd benefit from a career counselor...
