It has been a year - over a year, really - since I was hired at Sunrise.
I work 15 hours at $12.40 an hour (I got a 40 cent raise last month).

They like me but there's really no place to go in my position. I like what I do - greet guests, interact with the residents, keep the place clean, and answer the phone. I keep saying I'll look for something else, but for now, I like it there, even though I'm not making enough to cover my expenses and I spend a lot of my own money.

For a short time I worked some extra hours doing admin stuff in the marketing dept. They had to loan someone out, so they had extra money to pay me. It's a fun place though. We had a big fashion show recently, and I was one of the "models", one night a bunch of people from my chorus came down and we did a short concert.
(the woman who got me the job sings with me and she's a Nurse there, so we'd been planning this for awhile). The other night I did a little presentation about Purim, and I lit candles on Chanuka. It's much much better than sitting in a cubicle. We even have a dog which lives there, and people are always bringing their pets in. The downside to working there is that residents die. Someone I didn't really know just passed away last night. He had only been there a short time.

Of course, my hours allow me to also take classes at Hebrew College where I'm enrolled in the Jewish Music Certificate program. I'm in my 4th semester of Hebrew, and taking voice lessons, plus I have chorus rehearsals and concerts, and other "projects", so I'm constantly running around and I'm hardly ever home. I'm happy that tonight I AM home for the evening!

My money and commute issues would be easier if I lived with Alan, but it's not really on the table right now, and I'm not sure which of us is the problem. It may be me.
